The 2018-19 season is Jenelle Trautmann's fourth year as the lead assistant coach for the Viking softball team.
Trautmann's third year as VCSU, 2017-18, was highly successful as the Vikings posted a 39-12 overall record and placed second in the NSAA standings. The 39 wins is the second-most in program history, and VCSU finished the year ranked No. 25 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll – the first national ranking in program history since the poll was established in 2000.
She helped VCSU to a school-record 40 wins during the 2016 season, which also saw the team set 13 new records.
A native of Hastings, Minn., Trautmann is a 2015 graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Trautmann was a four-time All-America selection at Augustana, excelling as both a pitcher and utility player. As pitcher she posted a 32-3 record during her senior season and graduated as the school's all-time leader in wins and strikeouts. At the plate, Trautmann finished her career with 75 home runs. She led the NCAA in RBIs as a senior with 72.
Augustana College qualified for the NCAA National Tournament all four seasons of Trautmann's career.
